Date Night

Madori sat in his office, finishing the last of the paperwork that sat on his desk. It wasn't often that this happened, and he was going to make it a point to not spend the night working like he often did. He could no longer count the night when he only got an hour or two of sleep on the couch in his office. He was going to leave squad four in the hands of his vice captain for the night shift. He was going to take the rest of the day off, he doubted anything too bad would happen.

Madori looked out his window, and saw that a light snow was falling. It made the squad four gardens look so beautiful. Madori sat back in his big leather chair and put his feet on his desk. Yes, today was the perfect day for a break.

"Hrmmm." Naoya trudged down the halls of the Fourth Division, examining his painted nails as he neared his destination. Naoya hadn't expecting becoming a seated officer meant this much more paperwork, but he wasn't complaining; at least it kept him busy. Though he was more fond of helping patients than being stuck on paperwork duty. Something about healing just made him feel good, though if it didn't, he would have never joined the Fourth.

Once at the door, Naoya gave a knock. "Taicho, just have some papers to turn in. They're already completed, signed and everything."

Madori looked towards the knock at the door. He was far too unconcerned now that he was off duty to be proper and take his feet off the desk.

"Come in."

He smiled when he saw Naoya walk through the door with a stack of completed papers. This made him put his feet on the floor and sit a little straighter. He ran a hand through his honey brown hair and gave the man a cheesy grin.

"Naoya, you don't have to be so formal when it's just us."

Naoya gave a nod, entering the office and setting the papers on his captain's desk. Upon hearing the man's words he couldn't help but waver in his professional expression, he knew his captain was a friendly person but the teachers of the academy had made it clear they were to respect their higher ups.

"Yes, sir. If that's all, I'll take my leave." He said, giving his captain a smile before bowing respectively despite the man's earlier words of being less formal.

"Naoya, wait a second."

Sheesh, this guy was like Speedy Gonzales, in and out in a hurry. Madori motioned for him to sit in one of the arm chair that stood in front of Madori's desk.

"Naoya, could I have the pleasure of taking you out on a date tonight?"

Naoya stopped in his tracks. 'Have a seat?' Immediately, he wondered if he were in trouble for something, that's what usually happened when one was told to stay by their captain. He couldn't think of anything he'd done though that would land him a spot in the hotseat...He'd always been sure to be a model shinigami, as it had eventually landed him with a seated position.

So what then-

"Naoya, could I have the pleasure of taking you out on a date tonight?"

Oh.

"S-Sir?" Naoya was, to say the least, surprised by the question. His captain was an attractive man, but he never figured he'd be asked out by him of all things. Still though, a night out, a date no less, with his Captain sounded...fun.

"I, I'd be honored." He eventually replied, the smile he'd given earlier returning.

"Perfect, and stop with the sirs. It's Madori."

Madori said with a smile and a wink. He was so happy that Naoya had said yes. It had been so long since he'd been on a date. The only person he got to hang out with was Narue, not that he didn't love her, it's just male companionship was nice sometimes.

Madori got up from his seat and grabbed his long grey trench. He put it on along with a black hat and a bright red scarf.

"Well we better go before it gets any darker outside. Anything you'd like to do in particular?"

"Alright, Madori." Naoya responded, trying to do as he'd asked and not be so formal. It felt a little weird though, as he'd never done it before just now. As his captain donned his coat and other accessories, Naoya's hand went to grasp his own burgundy scarf as he tended to do when he was nervous or waiting on something.

"Me? Ahh..." He thought. "Nothing's really coming to mind, is there anything specific you had in mind?"

"I don't know. We'll have to see where the night takes us I guess."

Madori walked towards the door and opened it so Naoya could walk through first. As he did this he realized he was still in his captain's uniform, and it was a bit dirty. He'd need to change if he was going to look presentable.

"If you don't mind I need to stop at my place first."

Madori began to walk in the direction of the squad four captain's quarters. The captain's quarters were like a palace compared to the barracks. They walked a little bit until the made it to his home.

"Come on in, and make yourself comfortable. I'm just gonna put some clean clothes on."

Madori went into his bedroom and threw on a pair of black slacks and a black shirt with a pair of black shoes. The outfit was nice and fitted, which meant it showed off how physically fit the man was.

"Ready?"

Madori noticed Naoya didn't have a coat on, and it was pretty cold outside. They didn't have time to go back and get him one. Not if they wanted to go to a nice dinner and a movie.

"Here wear my coat. I don't want you to be cold."

Naoya couldn't help but be in awe at Madori's home, it was a beautiful place, not even comparable to the barracks where he lived. Truly extravagant in all sense of the word. His captain certainly was a man of good taste.

Now that he thought about it, as his captain left him to change, he was still in his own shihakusho. He clutched the fabric of his scarf again, there really wasn't any time to go back either...

He was pulled from his thoughts by Madori's words to which he gave a nod to. "Yes, I'm-" He stopped as the man offered his coat to him, it was chilly but that would leave Madori with out a coat if he took it. "Are you sure? I have my scarf, are you sure you won't need your coat instead?" He responded, his hand still clutching the fabric of his scarf as he spoke.

Madori smiled as Naoya worried about him being cold. It was so cute. It was pretty cold outside, but that wasn't a big deal. Madori was pretty hot natured naturally.

"How about we share it, or is that a little too forward?"

Madori wasn't very experienced with guys, so he didn't know if he was coming on too strongly.

"Ah, no that's fine." Naoya almost had to bite his tongue from using 'Sir' but he'd managed to avoid it. He wasn't exactly sure how sharing it would work out but he wasn't opposed to the idea. He'd never actually...gone out on a date before, so he wasn't exactly sure how these things were supposed to go or work anyway. He just knew they were meant to be...romantic or at least related to romance in a sense, or else it wasn't really a date but just an outing.

"I've never actually, been on a date before." He admitted, voicing his thoughts with a slight chuckle, an almost nervous sounding one at that.

"It's ok. I haven't been on many myself. I've only ever had one boy friend, so don't feel too awkward."

Madori unbuttoned his coat and opened it, putting his arm around Naoya's shoulder. If the smaller man would put his hand around Madori's waist, then they could walk together comfortably.

Madori guided Naoya out of squad four and into the snow. It was still just a light snow fall, but the sun had almost completely set. This coat sharing thing was working out pretty well. Madori was warm and he got to touch the man he was crushing on.

"Naoya, what kinda stuff are you into?"

"Me?" Naoya thought, instinctively putting his own arm around Madori's waist while Madori's went to rest around his shoulders, as it seemed to be the natural thing to do. "Well, I like to swim, read, and go on walks...Hmm, I enjoy a good drink every now and then but not much--too much drinking makes me sleepy, as for food I'm not particularly picky."

Had he said too much? He didn't really know, he'd just listed off things at the top of his head in hopes of properly answering Madori's question.

"That sounds..."

Madori paused to think of a suitable word. Naoya was so cute, in is looks and his manner of speech. Madori had no idea what they were goin to do yet. He was just going to walk until he saw something.

"absolutely charming. Are you hungry Naoya?"

Naoya gave a nod, "Yes, very." He answered, as he was becoming quite hungry and a nice meal would be perfect for what he felt like was an empty stomach.

"What are things that you like, Madori?" He asked, seeing as how Madori had asked him, it would be nice to know the other male's preferences as well.
